Luton Town have completed the loan signing of Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder arrives with a conditional option for a permanent transfer next summer.

Manager Jack Wilshere has moved to add depth and quality to his midfield options. The Hatters currently sit 13th in League One with four points from their opening three games, having scored eight goals but conceded ten. They are three points behind early leaders Blackpool.

Dan Gore is a defensive midfielder who gained valuable first-team experience last season. He spent the entire campaign on loan at Rotherham United in the Championship, making 41 appearances and scoring one goal. His performances included playing in both League One fixtures against Luton Town last season, giving Wilshere and his coaching staff a firsthand look at his abilities.

Wilshere confirmed this, stating, "Dan was someone who, when we played Rotherham in the home game quite early on in our time here and drew 0-0, we spoke about as coaches, saying that we really liked him." Gore has also made two senior appearances for Manchester United, coming off the bench in a League Cup tie against Crystal Palace in September 2023 and a Premier League match versus Aston Villa that December.

The addition of Gore provides competition and cover in a key area of the pitch. Luton's start to the season has been mixed, with a win, a draw, and a loss giving them that LDW form. Strengthening the midfield is seen as a way to solidify the team and improve their defensive record, which currently shows a minus two goal difference. Fans can track the squad's development on the official squad page.

Gore himself is eager to build on his previous loan spell. "I had a good time at Rotherham, despite the relegation," he said. "I learnt a lot and the club's done a lot for me, so it was it was a good experience." His arrival comes at a key juncture as the team looks to climb the standings.

Attention now turns swiftly to the next fixture. Luton Town are scheduled to play Stockport County at home on Wednesday evening, the 2nd of September. Stockport currently sit 3rd in the table, making it a significant early-season test. A positive result could help Luton close the gap to the promotion places.

The loan deal represents a low-risk opportunity for Luton to assess a talented young player with a view to a longer-term commitment. All the details of the club's upcoming matches can be found on the fixtures page. Gore will be hoping to make his debut in that match against Stockport County.
